New Liam Neeson Police Action Movie Announced With Ving Rhames & More
Samuel Goldwyn Films has officially announced the casting of Academy Award nominee Liam Neeson in a brand new action thriller movie. The studio has acquired the North American distribution rights to the film, titled The Mongoose, which will arrive in theaters this coming fall.
What do we know about Liam Neeson’s new action movie?
“The film follows Ryan ‘Fang’ Flanagan (Neeson), a war hero who, accused of a crime he didn’t commit and with nothing to lose, leads police on an epic televised cross-country car chase,” reads the initial synopsis.
Besides Neeson, Marisa Tomei (My Cousin Vinny), Ving Rhames (Mission: Impossible movies), and Michael Chiklis (The Shield) have also been tapped to join the cast of The Mongoose. The movie is directed by Neeson’s long-time stunt double Mark Vanselow, who has worked with the acclaimed actor in over 20 projects, including the Taken franchise. This also marks Neeson’s latest collaboration with Samuel Goldwyn Films, after the recently released thriller film Cold Storage.
“The Mongoose is exactly the kind of crowd-pleasing thriller that audiences want to experience on the big screen,” Samuel Goldwyn Films bosses Peter Goldwyn and Ben Feingold said in a statement. “Mark Vanselow brings an authenticity to the action that only someone who has spent decades alongside Liam could deliver, and with Marisa Tomei, Ving Rhames, and Michael Chiklis rounding out the cast, we couldn’t be more excited to bring this film to US audiences this year.”
The screenplay for The Mongoose was written by Thompson Evans, with Code Entertainment and Jupiter Peak Productions financing the project. The film is produced by Code Entertainment’s Al Corley, Bart Rosenblatt, and Eugene Musso. Executive producers are Jonathan Dana, Code’s Rich Freeman, Steven Shapiro, and Liz and Ken Whitney of Jupiter Peak, and Lisa Wilson and Craig Chapman of The Solution Entertainment Group.
