Production of Highlander is underway at Eilean Donan Castle in Scotland, where new photos reveal multiple cast members in costume. Cavill is seen as Connor MacLeod, the immortal warrior at the center of the story. Alongside him, Karen Gillan appears as Heather MacLeod, his first wife, hinting at the story’s emotional backstory.
The biggest surprise comes from WWE star Drew McIntyre, who is playing Angus MacLeod, Connor’s brother. The photos offer the first look at his character, confirming his role in the reboot. Kevin McKidd has also been spotted on set, though details about his role remain under wraps.
Talking about the role earlier, he kept details limited but shared his excitement, saying he had “the chance to talk to a couple of people and get offered an opportunity,” while adding he’d go into details about it once more is officially out (via Comic Book Movie).
McIntyre has stepped away from WWE for the project after his recent WrestleMania 42 appearance, where he lost an unsanctioned match. His casting also reunites him with Dave Bautista, following their earlier collaboration. The film’s action team previously worked with Bautista, which may have influenced McIntyre’s involvement.
The reboot, directed by Chad Stahelski, follows Connor MacLeod centuries after his first death. He lives quietly in the modern world until a dangerous enemy resurfaces, pulling him back into the deadly battle among immortals. The story blends past and present, with conflicts unfolding across different eras.
With a cast that also includes Russell Crowe, Djimon Hounsou, and Marisa Abela, the film is shaping up as a large-scale fantasy project.
