Brandon Sklenar & Eiza González To Star in New Prestige Film Launching at Cannes
Brandon Sklenar and Eiza González are teaming up for a bold new project that takes them into unexpected territory. The two rising stars will anchor a prestige drama that explores transformation, identity and the price of perfection.
Iron Jane to be led by Eiza González and Brandon Sklenar
Eiza González and Brandon Sklenar will lead Iron Jane, an inspirational prestige film set in the world of female bodybuilding. Additionally, Lissette Feliciano wrote the screenplay and will direct the project. Highland Film Group will launch international sales at the Cannes Marché du Film next week.
The film follows Janie John, played by González, who discovers female bodybuilding after a childhood defined by neglect. Meanwhile, a former champion, played by Sklenar, coaches her through an extreme physical transformation. As Janie rises through the ranks, her grip on reality begins to fracture under the pressure.
On the production side, Andrea Bucko of Sugar Rush Pictures, Jay Glazer of Neon Kite and Matthew Cooper produce the film. Furthermore, González, Sklenar through Vista Lane Pictures and Feliciano through Look at the Moon Pictures also produce. Highland Film Group, Sugar Rush Pictures and Gramercy Park are co-financing the project together.
In addition, Atlas Entertainment’s Cassian Elwes serves as executive producer on the film. CAA Media Finance and WME Independent represent U.S. rights for the project. Claire Koonce at CL|CK Casting is handling casting duties.
“Iron Jane is a story about discovering that true strength is often found in surrender,” Feliciano said in a press release. “Eiza brings a physical and emotional commitment, bravery, and collaborative spirit to the role.”
Highland Film Group CEO Arianne Fraser also praised both leads’ dedication to their physically demanding roles. “We have a stellar cast led by Eiza González and Brandon Sklenar whose commitment to the physicality of their roles has already begun,” Fraser said in a press release.
Meanwhile, González currently stars in Mike and Nick and Nick and Alice and will next appear in Guy Ritchie’s In the Grey. Sklenar, on the other hand, can currently be seen in Paul Feig’s The Housemaid, which has grossed over $400 million worldwide.
