Daisy Ridley’s Terrifying Thriller Movie Hits Peacock Today
One of Lionsgate’s suspense-filled psychological thriller films starring Star Wars vet Daisy Ridley has finally found a new streaming home. Beginning today, Ridley’s 2023 movie The Marsh King’s Daughter is officially available to stream on Peacock.
What do we know about Daisy Ridley’s The Marsh King’s Daughter movie?
The Marsh King’s Daughter was directed by Neil Burger, with Elle Smith and Mark L. Smith writing the screenplay, based on Karen Dionne’s 2017 novel of the same name. In the film, Ridley played a woman who must confront her dark past after her dangerous father escaped from prison. The movie also starred Ben Mendelsohn, Garrett Hedlund, Brooklynn Prince, Caren Pistorius, Joey Carson, and Gil Birmingham.
“In the tense thriller, a woman with a secret past will venture into the wilderness she left behind to confront the most dangerous man she’s ever met: her father. In the film, Helena’s seemingly ordinary life hides a dark and dangerous truth: her estranged father is the infamous Marsh King, the man who kept her and her mother captive in the wilderness for years. The Marsh King’s Daughter received mixed reviews from critics during its theatrical run in November 2023. Compared to its 40% approval rating, the divisive film has a higher Popcornmeter of 74% on Rotten Tomatoes. It was executive-produced by Samuel J. Brown, Adam Fogelson, John Friedberg, Michael Heimler, Charles Miller, Robert Simonds, and Cliff Roberts.
