Jacob Elordi has reportedly dropped out of the jury of the 79th Cannes Film Festival, as per Page Six Hollywood. Citing an insider, the outlet revealed that the Oscar-nominee suffered a foot injury that forced him to back out. The source added, “So they’re trying to replace him as a judge at Cannes.”

Park Chan-wook will head the jury this year as President. The South Korean filmmaker is known for his movies like Joint Security Area and The Vengeance Trilogy — Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance, Oldboy, and Lady Vengeance. Other jury members include Demi Moore, Ruth Negga, Laura Wandel, Chloé Zhao, Diego Céspedes, Isaach De Bankolé, Paul Laverty, and Stellan Skarsgård. They will have the honor of presenting the Palme d’Or award to one of the 22 films competing this year.

Meanwhile, Julianne Moore will reportedly receive Kering’s annual Women in Motion Award, while Barbra Streisand and Sir Peter Jackson will be awarded Honorary Palme d’Ors. Jackson will also be a part of the festival’s “Rendez-vous” lineup, which also includes Cate Blanchett and Tilda Swinton.

Pierre Salvadori’s The Electric Kiss, which will be screened out of competition, will open the festival. Participating films include Pedro Almodóvar’s Amarga Navidad, Asghar Farhadi’s Parallel Tales, and Ira Sachs’ The Man I Love.

Elordi has been active in the industry since 2015. He first appeared in short films like Carpe Liam and Max & Iosefa before getting his breakthrough as Noah Flynn in The Kissing Booth series. The Australian actor later gained further recognition as Nate Jacobs in Euphoria and continued to gain notoriety through his performances in movies like Saltburn, Priscilla, and Frankenstein. Earlier this year, he appeared opposite Margot Robbie in Wuthering Heights.
