What happens in the Resident Evil teaser trailer?
The video introduces Euphoria star Austin Abrams as a courier who winds up stranded in a town where he must fight for his survival. The trailer offers a glimpse of the terrifying and chaos-fueled night he must endure, as he finds himself being hunted down by an army of raging, mutated zombies. It also teases how director Zach Cregger will reinvent the long-running Resident Evil franchise with a new survival horror story, inspired by the original games’ thrilling gameplay.
The new Resident Evil movie is directed by Cregger, who co-wrote the screenplay with Army of the Dead and John Wick: Chapter 4 scribe Shay Hatten. This marks Cregger and Abrams’ latest collaboration, after working together on 2025’s acclaimed horror movie Weapons. Joining Abrams are Zach Cherry, Kali Reis, and Paul Walter Hauser.
It is executive-produced by Oliver Berben, Victor Hadida, Richard Wright, and Robert Bernacci. Producers are Robert Kulzer, Cregger, Roy Lee, Miri Yoon, Carter Swan, and Asad Qizilbash. It is a production by Columbia Pictures and Constantin Film, in association with TriStar Pictures.
