Spider-Man: Brand New Day’s Time Jump, Peter Parker’s AI Assistant Revealed
New details from Spider-Man: Brand New Day have revealed details of the film’s time jump and Peter Parker’s AI assistant.
What do we know about Spider-Man: Brand New Day’s time jump?
EW received three script pages from Spider-Man: Brand New Day that reveal key elements of the movie’s opening moments. According to the script, Spider-Man 4 picks up nine months after the final shot of Spider-Man: No Way Home, with Peter living in his new apartment. Peter had Doctor Strange erase him from everyone’s memory to save the multiverse. It also made him a stranger to MJ and Ned, the two people he cared about the most.
In the opening scene of Spider-Man: Brand New Day, Peter is holding the letter he wrote to MJ in No Way Home to explain Strange’s spell and their past relationship. Living alone is negatively affecting Peter’s health, as the script notes he has “a small, sharp headache,” which will certainly play a factor in the movie’s story.
Another reveal from the script is the introduction of E.V., Peter’s AI assistant. Think of E.V. as Peter’s version of J.A.R.V.I.S. or F.R.I.D.A.Y. Without Tony Stark, Peter must now make his own gadgets.
According to notes from Spider-Man 4 director Destin Daniel Cretton, E.V. is “the closest thing Peter has to a friend.” Peter also created a homemade fabricator, which is described as a “3D printer on steroids — something that could be made by a kid genius w/ limited funds.”
Speaking of Peter, Tom Holland returns for his fourth solo outing as Spider-Man. The actor will be joined in the cast by Zendaya as MJ, Jacob Batalon as Ned Leeds, Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle/Punisher, Michael Mando as Mac Gargan/Scorpion, and Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner/Hulk.
Sadie Sink and Tramell Tillman have also been cast in undisclosed roles. Sink has been heavily rumored to play Jean Grey. Meanwhile, Tillman is allegedly playing a character named “Bill,” which could be short for the villainous William Metzger.
Cretton directs Spider-Man 4 from a screenplay by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers. Kevin Feige and Amy Pascal are producers.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day swings into theaters on July 31, 2026.
