1 of 2024’s Best Sci-Fi Monster Movies To Stream on Hulu After HBO Max Arrival
A 2024 sci-fi horror movie from an iconic franchise will arrive on Hulu very soon. Co-produced by Ridley Scott, the movie centers on a group of youngsters who try to salvage an abandoned space station, only to find parasitic and invasive species.
Alien: Romulus starts streaming on Hulu in May
Alien: Romulus will become available to stream on Hulu from Thursday, May 21, 2026. This is less than two months after the movie arrived on HBO Max on April 3, 2026. Needless to say, HBO Max subscribers will lose access to stream the movie as it moves on to its primary platform.
Fede Álvarez helmed the movie and co-wrote it with Rodo Sayagues. Alien: Romulus is not a standalone movie, but rather a bridge between the original Alien (1979) and Aliens (1986). The cast includes Cailee Spaeny as Rain, Isabela Merced as Kay, David Jonsson as Andy, Archie Renaux as Tyler, Spike Fearn as Bjorn, and Aileen Wu as Navarro.
Alien: Romulus follows a group of young space colonists who hope to escape their harsh lives from a mining colony on planet LV-410. The story centers on Rain and her android brother, who join their friends as they raid the abandoned Weyland-Yutani station, Renaissance. Shortly after sneaking into the space station, they come face-to-face with a highly dangerous alien species.
The movie debuted in theaters on August 16, 2024. After the last two Alien movies received a less-than-favorable reception, Alien: Romulus breathed new life into the franchise. Both critics and audiences were extremely impressed, leading to a 80% critics’ score and a 85% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes.
Meanwhile, the Álvarez-directed movie also performed well at the box office. Made on a reported $80 million budget, it earned more than $350.8 million at the global box office. Furthermore, it received an Oscar nomination for Best Visual Effects, though it lost to Dune: Part Two.
