James Bond Video Game Star Wants First Light’s Lead as New 007

With the debate around the new James Bond actor heating up, Lennie James, who voices MI6 mentor John Greenway in the upcoming 007 First Light video game, has chimed in with a suggestion regarding Daniel Craig’s successor. He noted in a recent interview that Patrick Gibson, who portrays the charismatic spy in the game, would be an ideal candidate for playing the character in the upcoming live-action James Bond reboot.

Lennie James thinks Patrick Gibson should play new James Bond in live-action

The Walking Dead alum revealed that Amazon “would be mad” if they didn’t consider his 007 First Light co-star Patrick Gibson for the role of James Bond in Denis Villeneuve’s much-awaited reboot of the franchise.

Lennie James remarked while speaking with Radio Times Gaming, “He’s fantastic in our version of Bond, and I genuinely think he should be a candidate for the main role that they’re trying to find someone for. I mean, I’m sure he’s under consideration. The people in control would be mad not to consider him.” He added, “I think it’s entirely possible, and that would be my hope.”

While Amazon MGM Studios has confirmed that Dune director Denis Villeneuve will be helming the next 007 movie, the company has yet to announce the actor who will step into the shoes of the fan-favorite covert agent. The rumor mill has linked the likes of Jacob Elordi, Callum Turner, and Harris Dickinson to the role, with recent reports even naming Enola Holmes star Louis Partridge as the frontrunner for the job.

Nevertheless, who will succeed Daniel Craig as the new James Bond remains a mystery for the time being.

Before Villeneuve’s 007 project, though, Bond fans have the First Light video game to look forward to. Developed and published by IO Interactive, the action-adventure game is currently on track to release on May 27, 2026.
