Anne Hathaway addresses major The Devil Wears Prada 2 speculation
Anne Hathaway, who is reprising her acclaimed role in The Devil Wears Prada 2, alongside Meryl Streep, stepped in during the filming of the sequel to ensure that all the models featured in the film did not look “traditional.”
This story has been relayed several times on different platforms since, and it seems that this has led many to believe that Hathway’s intervention got the models originally meant for the job fired.
The actress clarified during her Good Morning America appearance that no such thing happened. Her intervention only meant the addition of other models. It did not get anyone fired or removed from their respective role.
“It was this quick thing that happened on set, and now it’s become a much bigger story,” the actress said, “Actually, I do want to mention some misinformation getting out there right now that people were fired because of the size inclusivity, and that just didn’t happen.”
The actress further asserted, “Nobody lost their jobs; in fact, it created more jobs. It was just about making sure that so many different body types saw themselves in a moment in the script…”
The new film also stars Emily Blunt, Stanley Tucci, Justin Theroux, and Kenneth Branagh, apart from Streep and Hathaway.
The Devil Wears Prada 2 premieres on May 1, 2026, across the United States.
