Dakota Johnson & Sean Penn’s NSFW Movie Comes to Hulu Today
Sony Pictures Classics’ R-rated drama movie starring BAFTA nominee Dakota Johnson and Academy Award winner Sean Penn has finally found a new streaming home on Hulu. As of today, the 2024 film Daddio is now officially available to stream on Hulu.
What do we know about Dakota Johnson’s NSFW movie?
Daddio was written and directed by Christy Hall. In the film, Johnson plays a young woman named Girlie, who unexpectedly bonds with her cab driver through a meaningful conversation. Following its world premiere at the 2023 Telluride Film Festival, the movie has maintained its Certified Fresh score of 75% on Rotten Tomatoes, based on 114 reviews. Meanwhile, its Popcornmeter score is slightly higher at 89%.

A young woman jumps into the backseat of a yellow taxi, the cabbie throws the vehicle into drive as the two head out into the night toward Manhattan, striking up the most unexpected conversation, resulting in a single, epic, remarkable journey,” reads the film’s official synopsis.
The R-rated drama film was produced by Hall, Johnson, Ro Donnelly, Terry Dougas, and Paris Kassidokostas-Latsis. Executive producers were Christopher Donnelly, Jean-Luc De Fanti, Kostas Tsoukalas, and Max Work. The creative team consisted of editor Lisa Zeno Churgin, director of photography Phedon Papamichael, composer Dickon Hinchliffe, production designer Kristi Zea, and costume designer Mirren Gordon-Crozier.
Johnson’s most recent acting credit was A24’s latest romantic comedy Materialists, which was also led by Chris Evans and Pedro Pascal. She will next be seen in the upcoming film adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s 2018 thriller novel Verity, which will also star Anne Hathaway and Josh Hartnett. As for Penn, he recently won an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his role in 2025’s One Battle After Another.
