In his interview with Entertainment Tonight, Ethan Hawke opened up about Maya Hawke’s wedding. The reporter told him, “Congratulations. Your daughter Maya is married. Are you guys still riding the high from the wedding?” Hawke responded, “Yeah, that was pretty fun. What really makes it is you know walking your daughter down the aisle is uh, I have had a lot of feelings in my life, and that was I would never, I had no words for what that feels like.”
The Dead Poets Society star continued, “I have no vocabulary for that. I was, I felt like I was 13, experiencing life for the first time. You know? so.” He further showered praises on his daughter’s husband, Christian Lee Hutson. “And you know, the man she married is an amazing young man, Christian. So, I am a very lucky individual.”
As such, the reporter said, “That makes me want to cry.” The father of four sweetly responded, “Well, don’t cry,” and the reporter shared, “I might, I might.”
For the unversed, Maya Hawke and Christian Lee Hutson tied the knot in a private ceremony on Valentine’s Day in New York City. Besides her parents, Ethan Hawke and Uma Thurman, many of her Stranger Things co-stars were in attendance. Ethan was seen carrying a bouquet next to her daughter, holding her custom Prada wedding gown.
Furthermore, Maya and Hutson first met while recording music together and were first linked up in 2023. In April 2025, the couple made their red carpet debut and also sparked engagement rumors.
Maya opened up about her marriage during the SXSW Conference & Festivals in Austin. She told PEOPLE that her married life so far has been “absolutely fantastic.” The 27-year-old continued, “I’m a very, very lucky person who’s very happy right now. And yeah, couldn’t be more grateful.”
