Sebastian Stan Breaks Silence on The Batman 2’s Huge Role
After a few months of silence amid circulating reports pointing to him playing Harvey Dent in The Batman 2, Sebastian Stan has finally addressed his involvement in the highly anticipated sequel. He revealed in a recent interview when he would start shooting the superhero movie. Having experienced several delays, it is now launching on the big screen next year.
Sebastian Stan starts filming The Batman 2 soon
While sharing his excitement about some of his upcoming projects in a recent interview that surfaced on a fanpage dedicated to him, Sebastian Stan Though, the Marvel actor confirmed he would be shooting The Batman 2 during the summer, describing it as “interesting.”
Reports originally suggested production would begin in late May 2026. However, Deadline shared earlier this month that it would commence in June.
The Batman Part 2 premieres on October 1, 2027. Matt Reeves will direct from his and Mattson Tomlin’s screenplay. Plot details haven’t been officially disclosed. However, Tomlin shared earlier this year that he and Reeves worked on a narrative that was something “new and dangerous.”
Meanwhile, Reeves said in a 2024 interview with SFX Magazine that the movie would delve into “the epic story about deeper corruption” and venture into surprising territory for The Dark Knight. He added that the first entry laid the groundwork for this, and the narrative “expands” in a way that will show fans sides of the protagonist previously unseen (via Deadline).
“Batman is constantly battling these forces,” he further stated. “But those forces can’t be entirely exorcised. So the next movie delves deeper into that.”
Robert Pattinson reprises the role of Bruce Wayne/Batman. Also returning from the original are Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth, Jeffrey Wright as James Gordon, and Colin Farrell as Oz Cobb/Penguin. Scarlett Johansson and Charles Dance have also reportedly boarded the movie. The former takes on Dent’s wife, while the latter is believed to be playing his father.
