New Clayface Photos Tease Plot Details & Inevitable Transformation
DC Studios is proving that sometimes the best way to sell a horror movie is to let the victim’s headlines speak for themselves. The Clayface movie’s official Instagram account drops new in-universe images ahead of the film’s first teaser trailer, and they paint a grim picture for Matt Hagen‘s future.
More Clayface photos appear from DCU movie
DC Studios’ upcoming Clayface movie shares new images on its official Instagram account ahead of the film’s teaser trailer.
The account posted two new photos that continue the in-universe marketing campaign for the R-rated Batman spinoff. The posts tease Matt Hagen’s story before his transformation into the iconic DC villain.
The first image features the cover of a fictional publication called Gotham Medical, Issue 25. The cover highlights topics like regenerative medicine, organ transplants, and airborne diseases in megacities. The account captioned the post, “Healing you from the inside out,” hinting at the medical procedure that transforms Hagen.
The second image displays a torn Gotham Gazette newspaper with the headline, “Actor Matt Hagen Brutally Attacked!” The post carries the ominous caption, “Get. Well. Soon.” and has already gained over 21,000 likes and 170 comments from eager fans.
Tom Rhys Harries plays Matt Hagen, an actor whose life changes after a gangster disfigures him. James Watkins helms the film. The movie draws heavy inspiration from the Batman: The Animated Series two-part episode “Feat of Clay.”
A teaser trailer for the movie is expected to arrive tomorrow. CinemaCon attendees previously saw exclusive footage that reportedly leaned into the body horror elements of the character. The film’s production budget sits at around $40 million, making it one of the most affordable entries in the current superhero landscape.
Clayface opens in theatres on October 23, 2026, following Supergirl’s June 26 debut and the Lanterns HBO series in August. DC Studios also started filming Man of Tomorrow this week for a 2027 release.
