Man of Tomorrow: Who Latest Cast Addition to James Gunn Movie Could Play in the DCU
With Man of Tomorrow gaining yet another cast member, everyone is wondering who the new addition might be playing in the DCU.
DC Studios and Warner Bros. Pictures’ Man of Tomorrow is now in production. Written and directed by James Gunn, the movie serves as a follow-up to 2025’s Superman, meaning David Corenswet and Nicholas Hoult are both reprising their respective roles as Clark Kent and Lex Luthor.
Who might Andre Royo be playing in Man of Tomorrow?
It was recently announced that Andre Royo has joined the cast of Man of Tomorrow. Best known for playing Reginald “Bubbles” Cousins, Royo previously worked with Gunn on 2010’s Super, where he played a character named Hamilton.
There’s been no reveal regarding who Royo is playing in Man of Tomorrow; of course, that hasn’t stopped people from speculating who his role might be. Nothing is official, but we’ve come up with our four best guesses regarding Royo’s DCU casting
Martian Manhunter
Martian Manhunter would be the biggest, boldest swing. We’re all kind of expecting him to show up in the DCU sooner or later — Gunn has posted images of DCU sets that feature Chocos, the character’s favorite cookie — and it’s not impossible that Royo could appear as him in Man of Tomorrow. Whether or not that actually happens, we’ll have to wait and see. But it’s not impossible.
Silas Stone
Silas Stone may be a more likely pick, as who knows how big a name DC is going to want for a character like Martian Manhunter. Silas, on the other hand, could definitely be introduced in Man of Tomorrow and could then pave the way for Cyborg’s DCU introduction, as Silas is Victor’s father. He’s also the creator of Titans Tower, which could set up some Teen Titans projects for the future.
Professor Hamilton
Professor Emil Hamilton is a character who often shows up in a lot of Superman stories. Sometimes a hero and sometimes a villain, he’s a scientist who has inventions that can be used to both protect and attack Superman. Also worth noting, he plays a big role in the Brainiac 13 storyline, and we all know that Brainiac will show up in Man of Tomorrow.
Brainiac’s henchman
There’s also the possibility that we’re all overthinking this, and Royo could just have a minor role in Man of Tomorrow. That was the case for Terence Rosemore and Superman — Rosemore’s casting was announced pretty early on (also by Gunn on Instagram), leading everyone to think he was going to have a big role in the movie, but then he largely just served as an assistant to Lex Luthor. So, it could be that Royo doesn’t actually have a huge role; perhaps he just had some time in his schedule and wanted to work with Gunn again. Nonetheless, it’ll be fun to see him show up in the movie, whoever he might be playing.
