Dave Franco’s New Comedy Movie Idiots Gets Wild Teaser Trailer

Independent Film Company (IFC) has shared the teaser trailer for Idiots, its newest comedy movie from The Toxic Avenger director Macon Blair. It is now scheduled to arrive in theaters on August 28.

“Two unqualified bozos are hired to transfer a rich teen (Mason Thames) to rehab when their straightforward gig quickly spirals into dangerous mayhem,” reads the synopsis.

What happens in the Idiots teaser trailer?

The video offers a glimpse at the movie’s hilarious and wild sequences, featuring Dave Franco (Together) and O’Shea Jackson Jr. (Straight Outta Compton). Their characters will embark on an insane trip to bring an angsty teenager to rehab, where they’ll find themselves in lots of ridiculous situations. The ensemble cast also includes Mason Thames (How to Train Your Dragon), Kiernan Shipka (Twisters), Nicholas Braun (Succession), and Peter Dinklage (Game of Thrones).

Idiots is written and directed by Macon Blair. The movie is produced by Franco, Blair, Ford Corbett, Mark Fasano, Joshua Harris, Brandon James, Nathan Klingher, and Alex Orr. Executive producers are Jatin Desai, Greg Friedman, Jackson, Jodie Hill, David Gendron, David Gordon Green, Ali Jazayeri, Thomas Mann, Danny McBride, and Jeremy Saulnier.

The film had its world premiere at the 2026 Sundance Film Festival. Since then, it has already garnered an approval rating of 73% on Rotten Tomatoes. It currently has a total runtime of 98 minutes. The creative team consists of director of photography Guillermo Garza, costume designer Karen Freed, and composers Will Blair and Brooke Blair.
