Five Nights at Freddy’s 3 Update Teases Scream Villains’ Unexpected Reunion
Scream fan-favorites Matthew Lillard and Skeet Ulrich have shared an exciting new update about Five Nights at Freddy’s 3, teasing the current status of the next chapter to Blumhouse’s popular live-action franchise.
This comes over four months after the 2025 sequel was first released in theaters, where it became a box office success. Despite receiving negative reviews from critics, the film was once again a massive hit among fans and moviegoers. It grossed over $239 million against its budget of around $31-51 million.
What’s the new update for Five Nights at Freddy’s 3?
Per Loucifer, during a panel appearance at the For the Love of Horror event, Lillard and Ulrich teased their respective return as William Afton and Henry. They also confirmed that production on Five Nights at Freddy’s 3 is about to begin soon.
“We’re about to go do the third movie, and we’re in it together, and I’m going to kill him, I’m sure,” Lillard said.
Ulrich added, “I’m very excited to see what we wind up making for the third movie. From what I hear, there will be a lot of Henry and Charlotte.”
Emma Tammi directed the first two Five Nights at Freddy’s movies from a screenplay written by Scott Cawthon, based on Cawthon’s popular horror video game series. The franchise stars Josh Hutcherson, Piper Rubio, Elizabeth Lail, and Mary Stuart Masterson. The sequel also featured Freddy Carter, Theodus Crane, Wayne Knight, and Mckenna Grace. Compared to its 16% Tomatometer rating, the sequel currently holds a high Popcornmeter score of 83% on Rotten Tomatoes.
Further details about the plot for FNAF 3 are still under wraps, but Lillard previously teased that the next installment will be “more William Afton vs. Mike.” A recent report also suggested that the new film might potentially receive a fall 2027 release date.
