Mads Mikkelsen’s Acclaimed Fantasy Movie Arrives on HBO Max Today
HBO Max expands its movie library with the addition of one of 2025’s highly rated action fantasy movies, which was led by Cannes-winning actor Mads Mikkelsen. Beginning today, Lionsgate’s Dust Bunny movie is now finally available to stream on HBO Max.
What do we know about Mads Mikkelsen’s Dust Bunny movie?
Dust Bunny was written and directed by Bryan Fuller in his feature-length directorial debut. This served as a reunion project between Mikkelsen and Fuller after working together on the iconic thriller show Hannibal, which lasted for three seasons. In the film, the acclaimed Danish actor plays the role of a hit man who gets asked by a young girl to kill the monster under her bed. The movie also starred Sigourney Weaver, David Dastmalchian, Sophie Sloan, Sheila Atim, Rebecca Henderson, and Line Kruse.
“Ten-year-old Aurora has a mysterious neighbor who kills real-life monsters. He’s a hit man for hire. So, when Aurora needs help killing the monster she believes ate her entire family, she procures his services,” reads the official synopsis. “Suspecting that her parents may have fallen victim to assassins gunning for him, Aurora’s neighbor guiltily takes the job. Now, to protect her, he’ll need to battle an onslaught of assassins ― and accept that some monsters are real.”
The action fantasy film was executive-produced by Fred Bernstein, Zev Foreman, Jen Gorton, Rick Jackson, Charlie Morrison, Victor Moyers, and Jillian Share. Producers were Fuller, Basil Iwanyk, and Erica Lee. The creative team also included director of photography Nicole Hirsch Whitaker, editor Lisa Lassek, and composer Isabella Summers. Since its debut in 2025, the film received a Certified Fresh score of 85% on Rotten Tomatoes, based on 109 reviews.
