Avengers: Doomsday Trailer: 3 Reasons MCU Movie Fans Should Be Excited

The descriptions of the new Avengers: Doomsday trailer give MCU fans plenty of things to be excited about.

Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Doomsday is currently in post-production. Directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, also known as the Russo Brothers, the movie will be released in United States theaters later this year. The sequel, Avengers: Secret Wars, then follows in 2027.

There have so far been four publicly released Avengers: Doomsday teaser trailers. The first teaser revealed that Chris Evans’ Steve Rogers is returning to the MCU, while the second focused on Chris Hemsworth’s Thor and the third on a handful of X-Men characters. The fourth and final teaser put the spotlight on Letitia Wright’s Shuri/Black Panther, Ebon Moss-Bachrach’s Ben Grimm/The Thing, and more.

Why should MCU fans be excited about the Avengers: Doomsday trailer?

Just yesterday, Marvel showed a new Avengers: Doomsday trailer to those in attendance at CinemaCon. The footage has not been released to the general public — and there’s been no word regarding if/when it might be; however, a number of descriptions of the footage that was shown have since been shared online.

We’ve taken a look at all the trailer descriptions and compiled a list of the top three reasons why MCU fans should be even more excited for Doomsday to arrive.

Doctor Doom is not one to be trifled with

Everyone’s been wondering what it’ll be like to see Robert Downey Jr. in a completely different MCU role. There’s still much speculation to be had. But we can also now confidently say that Doctor Doom isn’t going to be messing around. There’s supposedly a scene in the trailer where Doom manages to stop Thor’s Stormbreaker with just two fingers, and, yeah, that sounds awesome. Doom is about to be a mega-powerful villain who isn’t going to be taken down easily.

There are still casting announcements we don’t know about

There was the first batch of casting announcements for Avengers: Doomsday when Marvel did that whole, now iconic, chairs thing. Since then, rumors have flooded the internet regarding who else might be in the movie. You might think that, with all the leaks and reports, we already know the full Doomsday cast. And, yet, the trailer revealed that Kathryn Newton’s Cassie Lang is part of the movie, which is something that’s been kept pretty well hidden. Granted, we don’t know if she’ll have a big role in the movie, but if she’s secretly been part of the project the whole time, there could easily be more surprises they’ve managed to keep hidden as well.

The MCU heroes aren’t all getting along

We’ve had four Avengers movies, now, and you might think that Earth’s Mightiest Heroes have figured out how to get along with one another by now. That’s not the case, as trailer descriptions mention a moment where Shang-Chi and Gambit are fighting one another. Why they’re fighting, we don’t know, but Avengers: Doomsday won’t be a movie where it’s just all the good guys versus the bad guys. There’s going to be some conflict and fun match-up fights in there amongst the Avengers, too.
