Michael J. Fox recently made an appearance after the viral error by CNN when the news outlet published an obituary with a tribute video for the actor. He attended the “A Country Thing Happened on the Way to Cure Parkinson’s” event in Nashville on Wednesday, April 15, proving that he is alive and well.
Speaking with Entertainment Tonight at the event, Fox recalled his reaction to finding out about the erroneous CNN report. “It was just funny,” the Back to the Future star said. The actor went on to share his reaction to receiving text messages following the debacle.
“People are really sweet about it and really understanding and more worried about it than they need to be,” Fox said. He further assured, “I’m a pretty rockhard guy and and I don’t I don’t get upset about stuff like that.”
Shortly after the erroneous CNN report sparked widespread concern that Fox had died, the actor took to Threads to assure people that he is alive. “How do you react when you turn on the TV and CNN is reporting your death?” he penned. “Do you…A) switch to MNSBC, or whatever they are calling themselves these days, (B) Pour scolding hot water on your lap, if it hurts your fine, (C) Call your wife, hopefully she’s concerned but reassuring, (D) Relax, they do this once every year, (E) Ask yourself wtf? I thought the world was ending, but apparently it’s just me and I’m ok. Love, Mike.”
Fox, who was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in the ’90s, has long been an advocate for the awareness and research surrounding the condition. He launched the Michael J. Fox Foundation in 2000, an organization dedicated to finding a cure.
