Anne Hathaway Jokingly Reveals What Meryl Streep ‘Stole’ From Her
Anne Hathaway jokingly revealed what Meryl Streep “stole” from her during her appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. She featured on the show as a guest to promote her upcoming movie, The Devil Wears Prada 2, which marks her reunion with Streep after two decades. Set to release on May 1, 2026, the film will see Hathaway and Streep reprising their roles as Andy Sachs and Miranda Priestly, respectively.

During an appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, the host told Hathaway that Streep also came on the show to promote their movie, The Devil Wears Prada 2. Interrupting the host mid-way, Hathaway revealed that Streep “stole” her sweater. Here, the sweater she was referring to was the blue one, which her character wore in the 2006 movie.
It wasn’t the original sweater, but it looked very similar and was custom-designed by Olympia Gayot for J.Crew. Colbert jokingly confirmed, “Yes, she stole your sweater.” She then hilariously commented, “That’s where it went,” prompting laughter from the audience.
Moreover, she also reflected on her feelings of reuniting with the cast, Streep and Emily Blunt, after two decades. “I just felt like I got to be in this, like, supergroup 20 years ago, and we got back together to make another album. And I love the album!” she added.
She further went on to credit the fans for their love and support for all these years, which made them return to deliver the beloved movie’s sequel. “There’s this love and this yearning to see what these characters have been up to,” she elaborated.
Directed by David Frankel, the comedy-drama movie sees the return of Miranda Priestly and Andy Sachs to Runway. The former tries her best to adapt to the evolving landscape of the industry and make the best decisions in the company’s interest. Miranda’s former assistant, Emily Charlton, now heads a luxury brand, which helps to fund the magazine.
