Disney’s Hexed Gets Footage & Release Date, Casts Hawkeye & Silo Actors

Disney officially revealed the first footage and a release date of Hexed, an original animated fantasy that stars Hawkeye star Hailee Steinfeld and Silo actress Rashida Jones for its lead voice roles. It was revealed during the studio’s CinemaCon 2026 presentation recently.

The Hexed movie is now locked in for a theatrical debut on November 25, 2026, a prime Thanksgiving slot that Disney Animation has dominated with billion-dollar juggernauts over the years. Directed by Josie Trinidad and Jason Hand, the project hints at a vibrant mix of teenage awkwardness and spellbinding adventure.

In the footage, audiences were introduced to Hailee Steinfeld as Billie Doe, an unconventional teenager stuck in a boring town. Her life gets a magical twist when she discovers she is a witch. The clip showed a personality test administered by a British-accented talking book and a quill pen (via Deadline).

When the pen asks Billie, “Have you ever been persecuted, drowned or burned at the stake?” Steinfeld’s character quips, “I’ve burned a steak in the microwave.” After signing her name in the ancient tome, the book flings open a portal to what is cryptically described as a “world of magic and wonder” (via The Hollywood Reporter).

Rashida Jones rounds out the core dynamic by voicing Billie’s relentlessly Type-A mother. After all, the plot comes together as both mother and daughter navigate a secret magical realm, turning their world completely upside down.

Production on Hexed is being overseen by Roy Conli and Juan Pablo Reyes Lancaster-Jones, with Walt Disney Animation Studios CCO Jared Bush as executive producer. Bush initially teased the project during a D23 event back in August 2025, but the CinemaCon reveal offered the first concrete look at the film. The movie is slated to come out on Thanksgiving this year.
