Ice Age 6 Trailer Revealed, Boiling Point Shows cThe Squirrel’s Baby

20th Century Studios revealed the first trailer for Ice Age: Boiling Point at CinemaCon in Las Vegas on April 16. The film, which is the first Ice Age theatrical release in over a decade, has given a sneak peek at Scrat, the iconic squirrel, who is now caring for a baby.

Ice Age 6 trailer teases what happens in Boiling Point

The Ice Age 6 trailer immediately throws audiences back into the familiar frozen tundra, but the focus shifts to the franchise’s most chaotic mascot. In Boiling Point, Scrat the squirrel has undergone a big life change, aka he now has a baby. The preview shows the two squabbling over the ever-elusive acorn before Scrat hands his offspring a smaller baby acorn, which the infant uses as a pacifier.

However, the heartwarming family moment is short-lived. The trailer reveals an active volcano looming ominously in the background. Within seconds, lava begins to flood the icy terrain, forcing Scrat and his child to leap desperately between ice floes to avoid dying under the hot lava.

Ice Age: Boiling Point is produced by 20th Century Animation and stands as the sequel to 2016’s Ice Age: Collision Course. The film will feature the return of main cast members John Leguizamo as Sid and Simon Pegg as Buckminster “Buck” Wild, alongside Romano, Leary, and Latifah.

Ray Romano, Denis Leary, and Queen Latifah were present to hype the upcoming release. Romano, who voices Manny the woolly mammoth, acknowledged the passage of time since the original 2002 film, saying, “The real Ice Age didn’t last this long. When we did Ice Age 1, I know I wasn’t wearing compression socks or reading glasses.”

Regarding the plot, Queen Latifah teased that the core herd finds themselves at “a little fork in the road in their lives.” The voice cast confirmed that the adventure will transport the characters to a lost world filled with new dangers, including the volcano seen in the Ice Age: Boiling Point trailer (via Deadline).
