One Night Only Trailer Shows Maya Hawke & Callum Turner’s Sexy Rom-Com

Universal Pictures debuted the first official One Night Only trailer at CinemaCon. They gave audiences a first look at a high-concept romantic comedy that imagines a world where desire has a strict calendar date, starring Callum Turner and Monica Barbaro.

The One Night Only trailer made its debut at the annual convention for exhibitors, which runs from April 13 to 16 in Las Vegas. Universal Pictures has set a theatrical release date of August 7 for the film, as fans anticipate director Will Gluck to deliver another crowd-pleasing rom-com following hits like Anyone but You and Easy A.

The trailer brings forth the One Night Only’s sharp, banter-filled script. In one exchange shown to the CinemaCon crowd, Monica Barbaro tells Callum Turner, “This is the best pizza I’ve ever had. I think it’s better than sex — I can’t remember.” The trailer then cuts to the frantic energy of the night, with Barbaro lamenting, “This night’s insane. I just wanted to find, like, a good guy.”

A flashback sequence reveals the pair’s first meeting earlier in the day, establishing the prickly dynamic that defines their connection. “Your legs don’t make any sense,” Turner’s character tells her. Barbaro gives back with equal wit, “Your hairline doesn’t make any sense.”

The project carries a serious pedigree beyond its leads. The script led the 2024 Black List, with a story credit for Travis Braun. Will Gluck handled the screenplay adaptation and directed, while producing alongside Jacqueline Monetta. Alongside Turner and Barbaro, the cast features Maya Hawke, Molly Ringwald, LeVar Burton, Julia Fox, and Este Haim.

Callum Turner comes on the heels of Masters of the Air and The Boys in the Boat. While Monica Barbaro continues her ascent following her Oscar-nominated performance in A Complete Unknown and her breakout in Top Gun: Maverick (via The Hollywood Reporter).
