Final Destination 7 Release Date Set After Part 6’s Blockbuster Success

With Final Destination Bloodlines still just in the rearview mirror and its record-shattering box office haul still warm, Warner Bros. has officially locked in a return trip to the grim reaper’s calendar. The Final Destination 7 release date announcement confirms the franchise will continue its new golden era with another entry coming to theaters sooner than many fans expected.

Warner Bros. revealed the Final Destination 7 release date as May 12, 2028, during its presentation at CinemaCon in Las Vegas.

The news landed alongside a massive slate update that includes titles stretching into late 2028. The studio seems to be positioning the film as an important anchor in its summer horror lineup, capitalizing on the immense goodwill generated by Bloodlines, the franchise’s latest entry in fourteen years.

Lori Evans Taylor, who co-wrote Final Destination Bloodlines, reportedly returns to pen the screenplay for Final Destination 7. The studio has yet to attach a director to the project. The producing team remains intact, with Craig Perry, Sheila Hanahan Taylor, Jon Watts, Dianne McGunigle, and Toby Emmerich all returning. Warren Zide is the executive producer.

Moreover, the push for a swift sequel comes directly after the performance of Final Destination Bloodlines. Directed by Zach Lipovsky and Adam Stein from a story by Jon Watts, the film opened to a franchise-best $51 million domestically. It has since climbed to a global total exceeding $285 million. Those numbers reinvigorated a property that has now amassed $983 million worldwide. That makes it New Line Cinema’s third-highest-grossing horror franchise behind The Conjuring and It.

Final Destination 6 cleverly expanded the lore by functioning as a partial prequel. It flashed back to a gruesome sequence in 1969. While plot details for part seven remain locked in the morgue, Taylor’s return suggests narrative continuity that fans appreciate.

Other noteworthy dates on the newly expanded Warner Bros. calendar include Evil Dead Wrath, The Revenge of La Llorona, and the Margot Robbie-led Ocean’s prequel (via Variety).
