Angel and the Badman Teaser Previews 3 Marvel-DC Actors’ Western Remake, Date Set
The recently released Angel and the Badman’s teaser introduces audiences to a fresh take on the 1947 John Wayne classic, led by Oscar winner Tommy Lee Jones and two other actors familiar to superhero audiences. The Western genre is getting a big revival as Angel Studios confirms the release date as well.
Angel and the Badman teaser and theatrical release date revealed
Angel Studios announced the film as part of a robust five-picture expansion to its 2026 slate. The studio confirmed Angel and the Badman will hit theaters in October 2026, positioning it as a major fall release alongside projects including the thriller Runner starring Owen Wilson and Alan Ritchson.
The reimagining updates the 1947 John Wayne film of the same name. The original featured Wayne as Quirt Evans, an injured gunfighter cared for by a Quaker woman and her family. Wayne also produced the picture.
Julio Quintana directs the new version. The cast pairs Oscar-winning Tommy Lee Jones, known for Chester Phillips and Harvey Dent/Two-Face, with Zachary Levi, known for Shazam! and Fandral. Along with Neal McDonough, whose credits include Dum Dum Dugan and Damien Dahrk.
According to the official synopsis: “When feared outlaw Quirt Evans staggers onto a rancher’s land with a bullet in his back, he expects a quick death, not mercy. But Penny, the rancher’s daughter, offers him a chance at something he’s never had: a life beyond violence. However, the past doesn’t forgive. With the marshal closing in and an outlaw gang ready to burn the ranch to the ground, Quirt must decide what kind of man he’ll be when the world demands blood.”
Producer Jaime Hernandez described the film’s target audience. “With themes of redemption and personal growth, combined with action, humor, and a touch of romance, we believe this film has all the elements to connect with a broad audience,” he stated.
As anticipation builds for a full Angel and the Badman trailer, this teaser hints at a Western aiming to keep up the classic frontier tension with a story accessible to modern audiences.
