Despite being an Oscar-winning filmmaker, Cameron emphasized that the “creative vision” of this movie belongs to Eilish. “It’s your show. Your creative vision,” Cameron said in the trailer. “This is going to blow people’s minds.”
Cameron helped capture a series of Eilish’s shows in Manchester during July 2025. Besides the concert footage, the movie features interviews with Eilish and behind-the-scenes footage of the Grammy winner preparing for her shows.
The tour was in support of Eilish’s 2024 album, Hit Me Hard and Soft. Co-written with her brother, Finneas O’Connell, Hit Me Hard and Soft received seven Grammy nominations, including Album of the Year. At the following ceremony, one of Eilish’s songs off the album, Wildflower, won Song of the Year.
As for Cameron, it’s his first directorial feature since Avatar: Fire and Ash, the third movie in the Oscar-winning franchise. Released in December 2025, Avatar: Fire and Ash has grossed nearly $1.5 billion at the worldwide box office.
Hit Me Hard and Soft: The Tour (Live in 3D) is in theaters on May 8, 2026. Tickets go on sale April 16.
