Jenna Ortega’s $138 Million Horror Movie Hit Streams on Netflix Today

One of Jenna Ortega‘s biggest horror movie films is set to hit Netflix today, bringing a new horror classic to the streaming service.

What Jenna Ortega horror movie is on Netflix now?

The 2022 Scream, in which Ortega stars alongside a star-studded cast, is available to stream on Netflix now. The movie is not only the fifth installment in the Scream service, but served as a sort of reboot of the franchise, and was the first movie since 2011’s Scream 4.

Alongside Ortega, Scream starred Melissa Barrera, Mason Gooding, Jenna Ortega, Jack Quaid, Marley Shelton, Courteney Cox, David Arquette, and Neve Campbell. The movie took place 25 years after the events of the original Scream movie, and followed yet another Ghostface that appears and targets the new group of teenagers.

Scream was directed by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, two members of the filmmaking collective Radio Silence Productions who also directed films like Ready or Not, Abigail, and more. The movie was written by James Vanderbilt and Guy Busick.

When released, Scream received positive reviews, and was a big box office success, earning $138 million. The film received a sequel, titled Scream VI, which saw most of the same cast reprise their roles, sans Neve Campbell, who didn’t join the film due to a pay dispute. Scream VI went on to gross over $165 million.

Following Scream VI, a third film in the new era of movies was planned, but Melissa Barrera was fired from the franchise due to pro-Palestinian social media posts made in 2023 about the Gaza war. That same year, directors Bettinelli-Olpin and Gillett exited the project, as did Ortega. Despite this, Scream 7 was still a big hit, and earned over $210 million at the box office.
