Man of Tomorrow Should Cast Adria Arjona as DCU’s Maxima, Here’s Why

If all the pieces fall properly into place, Adria Arjona could be the perfect Maxima in the upcoming Man of Tomorrow movie.

DC Studios and Warner Bros. Pictures’ Man of Tomorrow is scheduled to be released in United States theaters next year. A follow-up to 2025’s Superman, the movie is once again being written and directed by James Gunn. Nicholas Hoult and David Corenswet are reprising their respective DCU roles as Lex Luthor and Clark Kent/Superman.

A flood of Man of Tomorrow casting news hit the internet yesterday, as Deadline initially reported that Marisa Abela, Adria Arjona, and Ella Purnell had already begun screen testing for the movie’s potential Maxima role. Gunn very quickly threw cold water on this report and called the outlet out for “shoddy & incorrect” journalism.

While Gunn wouldn’t confirm whether or not Maxima is actually in the movie at this time, The Hollywood Reporter then said the four names who are being considered for the role are Arjona, Eva De Dominici, Sydney Chandler, and Grace Van Patten. Deadline first edited their article to only say that Arjona was being considered, though they then added the other three names later.

Why should Adria Arjona play Maxima in Man of Tomorrow?

DC fans are still waiting for an official announcement from Gunn as to whether Maxima is actually in the movie and who might be playing her; however, if The Hollywood Reporter’s article is truly accurate, Arjona would be the perfect choice.

Many have hoped that Arjona might be playing Wonder Woman in the DCU. This would also be good casting, but Gunn has proven he’s capable of putting lesser-known actors in big roles and making stars out of them. Nobody really knew who David Corenswet was before Superman, and now you can’t help but think of him as the Man of Steel whenever you stare at him.

Arjona’s stardom is currently on the rise — she had a great role in the Disney+ Andor show and has starred in Hit Man, Blink Twice, and Splitsville just in the past few years. She also has a number of other exciting projects coming up, like The Thomas Crown Affair remake. She definitely could play Diana Prince, but casting her as Maxima would be even more exciting, as this could really let a relatively unknown DC character (at least to mainstream audiences) shine and gain a fanbase. On the flip side, Wonder Woman is always going to have fans, so if Gunn casts an unknown star in that role, it could be a huge career starter for whoever gets the part.

Man of Tomorrow arrives on July 9, 2027.
