Joel Kinnaman recalls firing a director from set for bad behavior
Joel Kinnaman recently made an appearance on Inside of You with Michael Rosenbaum, where he discussed a range of topics. During the conversation, Michael Rosenbaum asked Kinnaman if he had ever worked with an “a**hole.” He also asked how he handled the situation.
Kinnaman said that he had worked with a director whose conduct raised concerns. Kinnaman recalled, “Yeah, this guy that was uh supposed to direct something that um that I was part of and producing and uh Yeah, I just unprepared, huge ego, treated the crew like s**t and just made a mess of everything. Showed up coked up on set.”
Rosenbaum then asked how the situation was addressed. “We had a lot of few long conversations, but then, you know, we had to part ways,” Kinnaman explained.
The Altered Carbon actor continued, “I wish I could fire him again. You come across this thing where we, you know, where people have not done the work on themselves and they are governed by their insecurities and their egos and and and the way that they try, you know, they need to build themselves up by pushing other people down, and to me that’s like the ‘uh Yeah, you can’t deal with…yeah, I can’t have that around,’…you know, it’s like I would never have a friend that behaved in that way, and if and I will do a lot more diligence to make sure that I don’t work with someone like that again.”
Joel Kinnaman is set to appear next in The Beast.
