Dave Franco & O’Shea Jackson Jr.’s Wild Comedy Movie Gets New Title, Release Date
Dave Franco and O’Shea Jackson Jr.’s upcoming comedy movie has undergone a name change, and has also been given a release date as well.
What is Dave Franco and O’Shea Jackson Jr.’s new movie called now?
The movie, which was formerly titled The Shitheads, is now being called Idiots, and will release on August 28, 2026. The movie stars Franco and Jackson as “two unqualified bozos who are hired to transfer a rich teen (Mason Thames) to rehab when their straightforward gig quickly spirals into dangerous mayhem.”
Alongside the trio, Idiots also stars Kiernan Shipka, Nicholas Braun, and Peter Dinklage. The film is written and directed by Macon Blair, with Alex Orr, Brandon James, Dave Franco, Ford Corbett, and Nathan Klingher all serving as producers on the project. O’Shea Jackson Jr., Jatin Desai, Greg Freidman, Danny McBride, Jody Hill, David Gordon Green, Jeremy Saulnier, David Gendron, Ali Jazayeri, and Thomas Mann all serve as executive producers on the film.
Despite not releasing until later this year, Idiots has been seen by some. The movie currently holds a 73% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, with many critics praising the humor of the movie, while also praising the film’s throwback style to more raunchy comedies of the past.
For Franco, Idiots marks his latest film since 2026’s Hoppers and 2025’s Now You See Me: Now You Don’t. He’ll next star in the upcoming animated adventure comedy film Forgotten Island. Jackson most recently starred in 2025’s Den of Thieves 2: Pantera, and will next star in the upcoming action thriller Lone Wolf.
