What do we know about The Invite?

The Invite is directed by Wilde, with Rashida Jones and Will McCormack writing the screenplay, inspired by 2020’s Spanish movie The People Upstairs from filmmaker Cesc Gay. This marks Wilde’s first feature directorial project in a long while after 2022’s hit psychological thriller Don’t Worry Darling. Wilde is also leading the cast alongside Seth Rogen (Neighbors, Pam & Tommy), Edward Norton (A Complete Unknown), and Penélope Cruz (Vicky Cristina Barcelona).

The upcoming movie is executive-produced by Patrick Chu for Annapurna, with FilmNation Entertainment’s Ben Browning, Annapurna Pictures’ Megan Ellison, and David Permut set as producers. Both Annapurna Pictures and FilmNation Entertainment are handling the project’s finance. Since its world premiere, the film had already scored an approval rating of 91% on Rotten Tomatoes, based on 33 reviews.

This is the latest collaboration between Wilde and Rogen, after Wilde appeared in Rogen’s award-winning Apple TV+ comedy series The Studio. She will also next be seen in the upcoming erotic thriller I Want Your Sex with Cooper Hoffman and in Tony Gilroy’s drama film Behemoth! with Pedro Pascal.
