The Batman 2: Major Marvel Actor’s Return & Filming Month

The Batman 2 will see the return of a character from the 2022 film, with a Marvel actor confirmed to reprise their role. The sequel’s filming month has also reportedly been revealed. Hitting theaters next year, plot details are currently unclear. However, promises of a solid script and new additions like Scarlett Johansson and Sebastian Stan have fueled anticipation for the follow-up.

Andy Serkis confirmed to return for The Batman 2, filming month revealed

Marvel actor Andy Serkis will reprise Bruce Wayne’s legal guardian and loyal butler, Alfred Pennyworth, in The Batman 2.

Deadline recently reported that Serkis’ involvement only had one obstacle to overcome: figuring out his filming schedule for the upcoming DC film with respect to his commitments to The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum, which he will direct and star in. He is now participating in both projects.

Moreover, the outlet has also reported that production on the sequel would begin in June 2026. Recently, Robert Pattinson, who will star as Bruce Wayne/Batman once again, told C à vous while promoting his new film, The Drama, that he would begin pre-production on the second installment “in a week” after wrapping up the press tour for the Zendaya movie.

Serkis earlier told Collider that he was confident about his participation despite his focus on The Hunt for Gollum. The Black Panther actor stated, “I’m pretty certain it’s all going to work out. Yeah, we’re working on it, but I think it’s all looking good.”

However, the Golden Globe nominee confirmed to ScreenRant that he won’t be part of the initial production due to his work on The Hunt for Gollum. He said he would join the crew “by the end of the year.”

The Batman Part 2 arrives on October 1, 2027, two months before The Hunt for Gollum’s release on December 17. Matt Reeves will direct the movie from a script he co-wrote with Mattson Tomlin.

In addition to Pattinson and Serkis, Colin Farrell is reprising his role of Oz Cobb/Penguin. Jeffrey Wright’s James Gordon is also expected to return. Joining them are Sebastian Stan, who will take on Harvey Dent, and Scarlett Johansson, cast in an undisclosed role, rumored to be Dent’s wife, Gilda.
