Dune: Part Three has recorded a strong early response from audiences, with IMAX 70mm tickets selling out shortly after becoming available. The limited batch of premium-format screenings, released for select locations, was fully booked within hours (via SFFGazette).

The advance sales were related to opening weekend screenings, scheduled from December 17, 2026, to December 20, 2026, with a limited number of showings across IMAX venues in North America and London.

Each participating location offered a single screening per day, which contributed to the rapid sellout. Though the screenings were fully booked within hours, additional screenings are expected to be announced later.

The surge in demand comes alongside the debut of a new television spot, which provides fresh footage from the film. The preview highlights the scale of the production and offers another look at key characters, including Anya Taylor-Joy as Alia Atreides.

Director Denis Villeneuve has also spoken about his approach to filming the third part, explaining that much of the movie was shot using 70mm film and IMAX cameras. He said, “A big part of it was shot in IMAX film, which was the first time for me, but I kept the desert in digital because I like the brutality of the digital IMAX.” The filmmaker added, “It is the most immersive format.”

Directed by Villeneuve and co-written with Brian K. Vaughan, the film is based on Dune Messiah. The upcoming part is set to conclude the trilogy. With its theatrical release set for December 18, 2026, the early sellout of IMAX 70mm screenings highlights significant audience interest.
