Thor 4: Lena Headey Reveals Details of Her Deleted Scene & Character

Fans of Thor: Love and Thunder missed out on a cameo by Lena Headey, and now, the Game of Thrones alum has finally addressed what ended up on the cutting-room floor. She confirmed that directors removed not only her scenes.

Lena Headey and two more actors got cut from Thor: Love and Thunder

During an interview with ScreenRant to promote her film Ballistic, Lena Headey described her mysterious role in Thor 4. She revealed that she, Angus Sampson, and Da’Vine Joy Randolph played a group of witches. Waititi invented the coven specifically for Thor: Love and Thunder.

Their job? To escort the God of Thunder through the underworld. Headey recalled the experience, “I wasn’t in it, but I worked on it. There were three of us. We were [a] coven of witches. I think it was Taika’s invention, and they were kind of Thor’s guide in the underworld, but they were very, very funny and kind of insane.”

She added that rumors about the actors getting “fired” weren’t accurate. Instead, Waititi simply found their storyline unnecessary for the final theatrical cut. Headey noted that the director had hoped to give the trio their own adventures in another setting.

The actress spoke warmly about working with Randolph, calling her “a delight” and “a joy.” Lena Headey also expressed disappointment that audiences never saw their chemistry on screen in Thor 4: “So yeah, bummer that we didn’t make the cut.” Marvel Studios has a long tradition of celebrity cameos, from Matt Damon to Elon Musk to the late Stan Lee, though not all survive final editing.

Despite her Thor 4 role never seeing daylight, Headey’s career continues moving forward. Netflix recently canceled her Western series The Abandons, but the Emmy-nominated actress stars in the upcoming thriller Ballistic. She plays a grieving mother who uncovers a shocking secret about the bullet that killed her soldier son. It releases in theaters on April 17, 2026.
