Robert Downey Jr. shared a Doctor Doom-themed Easter basket illustration on Instagram, drawing over 412,000 likes within hours of posting.
The comic-style artwork depicts Doctor Doom holding a basket filled with Easter eggs. Each egg features a different Marvel superhero symbol, including the Avengers logo, the X-Men insignia, Captain America’s shield, and what fans identified as a Spider-Man emblem. Comments flooded in from followers, with one user asking, “Isn’t that Andrew’s Spider-Man logo,” and another querying, “Is that venom.”
Downey Jr. will portray Victor von Doom/Doctor Doom in Avengers: Doomsday, releasing December 18, 2026. The Russo Brothers confirmed his casting at San Diego Comic-Con 2024, marking his return to the MCU after playing Tony Stark/Iron Man. Stephen McFeely and Michael Waldron co-wrote the film’s script.

The X-Men make their full MCU debut, with Patrick Stewart as Professor X, Ian McKellen as Magneto, James Marsden as Cyclops, Channing Tatum as Gambit, Alan Cumming as Nightcrawler, and Rebecca Romijn as Mystique. Ryan Reynolds also returns as Deadpool.
Production on Avengers: Doomsday officially began on March 26, 2025, and wrapped on September 19, 2025. Newton Thomas Sigel served as cinematographer and Alan Silvestri composed the score. The film is the 39th MCU entry in Phase Six, with sequel Avengers: Secret Wars scheduled for December 17, 2027.
