Ryan Gosling’s New Box Office Juggernaut Hits a Global Milestone

The latest sci-fi juggernaut featuring Ryan Gosling has quietly crossed a milestone that few Hollywood films reach, and it is showing no signs of slowing down.

Project Hail Mary is way past $400 million at worldwide box office

Project Hail Mary, starring Ryan Gosling, has crossed $420 million at the worldwide box office, according to Box Office Mojo. The Amazon MGM Studios film now stands at $420.8 million globally, with $217.2 million domestically and $203.6 million internationally.

The film opened to $80.5 million across 4,007 theaters on March 20. It followed with a $54.1 million second weekend, a 32.8% drop, before earning $30.7 million in its third weekend across 3,907 theaters. The third-weekend decline of 43.3% represents a strong hold for a wide-release title.

Project Hail Mary is the second-highest-grossing Hollywood film of the year so far. It trails only Disney/Pixar’s Hoppers, which has accumulated $512 million globally to date.

Internationally, the film has performed consistently across 86 markets in its third weekend. Key third-weekend markets include China ($5.8 million), the United Kingdom ($4.6 million), Australia ($3.3 million), Germany ($2.8 million), and South Korea ($2.7 million). India posted a 5% week-on-week increase, while Brazil rose 16%, reaching a $5.1 million cumulative total.

Foreign holdover decline held at just 23% in the third weekend. Notable cumulative international markets include the United Kingdom ($29.1 million), China ($27.8 million), Italy ($4.3 million), the United Arab Emirates ($3.2 million), Taiwan ($3.1 million), and Saudi Arabia ($3 million). Japan has reached $7.1 million, while France has cumulatively reached $7.3 million.

The PG-13 adventure-comedy-sci-fi was produced on a $200 million budget and runs 2 hours and 36 minutes. With consistent international holdovers and a domestic cume of $217.2 million, Project Hail Mary remains on track to cross the half-billion mark globally in the coming weeks.
