The Conjuring: Last Rites to stream on Prime Video this month
The Conjuring: Last Rites will premiere on Amazon Prime Video on Tuesday, April 21, 2026.
The fourth Conjuring movie is inspired by the alleged real-life hauntings of the Smurl family in the 1970s and 1980s. It largely follows Judy Warren, the daughter of paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine. Just like her mother, Judy gets visions, which lead her to the Smurls, who are experiencing terrifying incidents at their residence. Fearing for Judy’s life, Ed and Lorraine follow her. Upon investigating the house themselves, the couple discovers a cursed mirror that they had investigated long ago.
Michael Chaves directed the movie with a script from David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick, Richard Naing, and Ian B. Goldberg. James Wan, who directed the first two Conjuring movies, co-produced the Conjuring franchise under his production studio, Atomic Monster.
The Conjuring: Last Rites stars Patrick Wilson as Ed, Vera Farmiga as Lorraine, Mia Tomlinson as Judy, Ben Hardy as Tony, and Steve Coulter as Father Gordon, among others.
Released in September 2025, the movie drew a wide range of reactions from both critics and audiences alike. While some critics hailed the movie for its emotional send-off of Ed and Lorraine, others criticized it for its underwhelming horror elements. Currently, it has a modest 57% approval rating from critics, while users give it a more favorable, solid 77% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
On the other hand, it went on to become the highest-grossing movie in the Conjuring franchise. Made on a reported production budget of $55 million, the final installment earned nearly $500 million globally (via Box Office Mojo).
