Ryan Gosling’s New Sci-Fi Movie With Daniels Has Surprising Budget
Ryan Gosling is set to team with the creative duo known as Daniels — Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert — on a new sci-fi adventure movie with a massive budget.
What is the budget for Ryan Gosling’s sci-fi movie with Daniels?
According to Jeff Sneider of The InSneider Newsletter, Daniels’ new movie at Universal has a $150 million budget. That’s a massive increase from Daniels’ last movie, Everything Everywhere All at Once, which had an estimated budget between $14 million and $25 million.
Sneider also revealed that a star from one of Daniels’ previous two movies, Swiss Army Man or Everything Everywhere All at Once, will appear in the movie and offered his prediction.
“By the way, I hear that one of the stars of those two films is going to co-star with Gosling,” Sneider wrote. “My money is on Ke Huy Quan or Paul Dano, personally.”
Details remain under wraps for the new sci-fi movie. Daniels will direct, with production expected to begin this summer in Los Angeles. Kwan, Scheinert, and Jonathan Wang will produce. Universal, which has a five-year exclusive partnership with Daniels dating back to 2022, will release the movie in theaters on November 19, 2027.
Gosling signing on to the project could not have come at a better time. The multi-time Oscar nominee is fresh off the heels of Project Hail Mary, a sci-fi movie about a science teacher who teams up with an alien to save the universe. Project Hail Mary garnered universal acclaim and is Amazon MGM Studios’ biggest movie ever, with a worldwide gross of $322 million and counting.
Before the new sci-fi movie arrives in November 2027, Gosling headlines Star Wars: Starfighter, in theaters on May 28, 2027.
As for Daniels, it’s the duo’s first movie since Everything Everywhere All at Once, the sci-fi multiversal adventure starring Michelle Yeoh. The film won seven Oscars, including Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Original Screenplay.
