Cardi B Scores Huge Victory in $50M Lawsuit — Report
Cardi B reportedly added to her legal wins with the dismissal of a lawsuit filed against her by Joshua Fraustro and Miguel Aguilar, who alleged that her song Enough (Miami) was copied from their track Greasy Frybread. A Texas judge dismissed the $50 million copyright infringement lawsuit against the Grammy-winning rapper on Monday, March 30, 2026.
New report says Cardi B has won dismissal in major copyright infringement lawsuit
Cardi B was sued by two artists, Joshua Fraustro and Miguel Aguilar, known as Sten Joddi and Kemikal956, respectively, in July 2024. The duo alleged that Cardi B’s Enough (Miami) “copied, misappropriated, and profited” from their song Greasy Frybread.
The two claimed they produced Greasy Frybread for rapper Sten Joddi. They also claimed that the song achieved commercial success after appearing on FX’s Reservation Dogs. The plaintiffs alleged that Cardi B “unlawfully duplicated” the song and released it without prior permission. They further alleged that Cardi B’s song caused “reputational harm within the music industry and caused them to be blacklisted.”
“The court did not reach or decide the underlying issue of whether our clients’ musical work was unlawfully used,” the plaintiffs’ attorney Robert R. Flores told PEOPLE.
Meanwhile, Cardi B’s attorneys filed several motions in the case, arguing that Greasy Frybread was not protected by copyright. Fraustro and Aguilar argued that Texas law should apply because Cardi B performed multiple shows in the state. However, District Judge Fernando Rodriguez rejected the claim.
The duo eventually secured copyright protection for the song. Although this occurred more than a year after they first filed their lawsuit.
“Obviously, we are very pleased with today’s order and appreciate the court’s careful consideration of the issues,” Cardi B’s attorney said.
The lawsuit against the rapper was dismissed, adding to her list of favorable legal outcomes. In September, a Los Angeles jury found the rapper not liable for assault and battery in a case brought by her former security guard, Emani Ellis.
The rapper is currently on her Little Miss Drama Tour.
