Scream 8 in the Works, Writers Set for Horror Movie Sequel

Following the massive success of Scream 7, Scream 8 is officially in the works, and has already found its writing team for the next entry in the legendary horror series.

Who are the writers for Scream 8?

According to a new report from Deadline, Spyglass is currently working on developing the next installment in the Scream franchise. Development seems to be going well too, as they’ve tapped the duo of Lilla and Nora Zuckerman to write the project.

The Zuckerman sisters most recently served as the showrunners for Peacock’s hit series Poker Face, starring Natashe Lyonne. Before that, they also worked as writers on a variety of hit shows, including Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Suits, Fringe, and more.

The news of a new Scream movie should come as no surprise. The seventh installment in the franchise, which released earlier this year, quickly became the franchise’s most successful. The film grossed over $200 million at the global box office, the first time a Scream movie has ever done that. That movie was directed by Kevin Williamson, who wrote the screenplays to the original Scream and Scream 4. He also co-wrote Scream 7, along with Guy Busick.

Although the movie was received divisively by fans, most notably due to controversy surrounding the film’s development and the firing of Melissa Barrera and subsequent departure of Jenna Ortega from the movie, and some called to boycott the movie, it didn’t stop it from being successful, and now we’ll be seeing more from the franchise.
