Jai Courtney’s Underrated Shark Horror Movie Out on Hulu Today
Independent Film Company’s acclaimed creature feature starring Suicide Squad’s Jai Courtney has finally found a new streaming home, nearly a year after it had its world premiere at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival’s Directors’ Fortnight section. As of today, Courtney’s survival horror movie Dangerous Animals is now officially streaming on Hulu.
What do we know about Jai Courtney’s Dangerous Animals?
In Dangerous Animals, Courtney plays the role of a serial killer who uses sharks to kill his victims. The cast also included Hassie Harrison, Josh Heuston, Rob Carlton, Ella Newton, James Munn, Michael Goldman, Jon Quested, Liam Greinke, and more. Since its debut, the movie has received a Certified Fresh rating of 87% on Rotten Tomatoes, based on 181 reviews.
“When Zephyr, a rebellious surfer, is abducted by a shark-obsessed serial killer and held captive on his boat, she must figure out how to escape before he carries out a ritualistic feeding to the sharks below,” reads the official synopsis.
The 2025 film was directed by Sean Byrne from a screenplay written by Nick Lepard. The film was executive produced by Fred Berger, Michael Glassman, Mehrdod Heydari, Marlaina Mah, Jacob Yakob, and Joseph Yakob. Producers were Chris Ferguson, Brian Kavanaugh-Jones, Mickey Liddell, Troy Lum, Andrew Mason, and Pete Shilaimon.
Besides Dangerous Animals, Courtney was also seen in last year’s Australian fantasy comedy The Fox. He most recently starred in Netflix’s latest sci-fi action thriller War Machine with Alan Ritchson and Dennis Quaid. He is currently attached to star in the upcoming Yellowstone spin-off Dutton Ranch, which will be led by returning stars Kelly Reilly and Cole Hauser.
