Glen Powell Voices Surprising Super Mario Galaxy Movie Character
Glen Powell has joined the cast of The Super Mario Galaxy Movie as this surprising character.
Who is Glen Powell voicing in The Super Mario Galaxy Movie?
Powell will voice Fox McCloud, the space pilot from the Star Fox games, who later became an iconic character in Super Smash Bros. Powell announced the news in a video posted to his Instagram.
On Thursday, Universal released a first look at Fox in the upcoming sequel to 2023’s The Super Mario Bros. Movie.
As for Powell, he recently starred in Paramount’s remake of The Running Man and A24’s How to Make a Killing. Later this year, Powell will star in J.J. Abrams’ The Great Beyond.
The addition of Fox is not the only crossover in The Super Mario Galaxy Movie. Pikmin and R.O.B., two characters who rose to prominence in the Super Smash Bros. games, will also appear in the upcoming Nintendo movie. Pikmin’s voice actor is unknown, while Ed Skudder will voice R.O.B.
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie stars Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Princess Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, Benny Safdie as Bowser Jr., Donald Glover as Yoshi, Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek, Luis Guzman as Wart, Issa Rae as Honey Queen, and Brie Larson as Princess Rosalina.
“Having thwarted Bowser’s previous plot to marry Princess Peach, Mario and Luigi now face a fresh threat in Bowser Jr., who is determined to liberate his father from captivity and restore the family legacy,” the film’s synopsis reads. “Alongside companions new and old, the brothers travel across the stars to stop the young heir’s crusade.”
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is directed by Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic. Matthew Fogel penned the script. Illumination‘s Chris Meledandri and Nintendo’s Shigeru Miyamoto will serve as producers. Universal Pictures and Nintendo will co-finance the production.
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie hits theaters on April 1, 2026.
