Forgotten Island Trailer: New DreamWorks Fantasy Movie Starring Dave Franco & H.E.R.

DreamWorks Animation has released the official trailer for Forgotten Island, a new fantasy movie starring Dave Franco and H.E.R.

The logline reads, “While celebrating their last night together, Jo and Raissa stumble upon a mysterious portal that transports them to the fantastical island of Nakali, packed with magical and mythological creatures they grew up hearing stories about from their Filipino families.”

What happens in the Forgotten Island trailer?

Grammy and Academy Award-winning artist H.E.R. and Liza Soberano voice high school graduates Jo and Raissa, who are about to go their separate ways for the first time in their lives. While spending their last night together, the two friends stumble into a magical portal to the Forgotten Island, a place where memories disappear.

“When they discover that the memories of their entire friendship are the price for returning home, Jo and Raissa will race to find a way to leave the island before they forget each other forever,” the synopsis states.

Additional cast members include Franco as Raww, a well-meaning-but-hapless weredog Raww, and Lea Salonga as The Dreaded Manananggal, the most featured creature on the island.

The voice cast also features Jenny Slate, Manny Jacinto, Dolly de Leon, Jo Koy, and Ronny Chieng.

Joel Crawford and Januel Mercado are the writers and directors of Forgotten Island. Mark Swift is the producer. The filmmaking trio previously worked together on the Oscar-nominated Puss in Boots: The Last Wish. Crawford also directed 2020’s The Croods: A New Age, the sequel to 2013’s The Croods.

DreamWorks Animation is the animation studio behind Forgotten Island. The studio’s recent movies include The Bad Guys 2, Dog Man, The Wild Robot, and Kung Fu Panda 4.

Forgotten Island opens in theaters on September 25, 2026.
