Christy gets streaming release date on HBO Max
Warner Bros. Discovery’s April release schedule confirms that HBO Max will begin streaming Christy on April 10. The platform includes the film among its new monthly titles, marking its subscription streaming debut following its theatrical run and earlier digital availability on other platforms.
The biographical sports drama centers on professional boxer Christy Martin and traces her rise in the sport alongside personal struggles. The official logline states: “Christy Martin (Sydney Sweeney) never imagined life beyond her small-town roots in West Virginia—until she discovered a knack for punching people.”
The film follows her career under trainer and husband Jim, played by Ben Foster, while depicting conflicts beyond the ring. The synopsis adds: “Fueled by grit, raw determination, and an unshakable desire to win, she charges into the world of boxing under the guidance of her trainer and manager-turned-husband, Jim.”
Christy previously premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 5 before opening in U.S. theaters on November 7. It later became available to rent or purchase on platforms including Prime Video, Apple TV, and YouTube prior to its HBO Max streaming release.
The cast includes Sydney Sweeney in the title role alongside Ben Foster, Merritt Weaver, and Katy O’Brian. David Michôd directs the film. The release forms part of HBO Max’s April lineup. The lineup also includes new films such as Alien: Romulus and Dust Bunny, along with returning and debuting series.
Warner Bros. Discovery issued an official media release outlining HBO Max’s April programming. It highlights multiple premieres across series, documentaries, specials, and films scheduled throughout the month. The platform noted that the list may not be comprehensive. It may change as additional titles and scheduling updates are finalized.
