Gundam: Sydney Sweeney Sci-Fi Movie Adds Spider-Man 4 Star to Cast
The live-action Gundam movie has added a Spider-Man 4 star to its cast.
Netflix and Legendary Pictures are working with Bandai Namco Filmworks on a live-action Gundam movie. Jordan Vogt-Roberts was originally attached to direct the project, though he has since departed and the film is now being helmed by Jim Mickle.
The announced cast so far includes Sydney Sweeney, Noah Centineo, and Jason Clarke.
Who has joined the cast of the Gundam movie?
Per Deadline, it has now been announced that Michael Mando has joined the cast of the live-action Gundam movie. Character details remain under wraps at this time.
Mando is known for playing Ignacio “Nacho” Varga on Better Call Saul, which is the Breaking Bad spin-off show that ran from 2015 to 2022. After briefly appearing as Mac Gargan/Scorpion in 2017’s Spider-Man: Homecoming, Mando is now reprising that role in Spider-Man 4, also known as Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which arrives this July. Mando had an uncredited role in 2013’s Elysium and will soon be appearing in a new Kevin Hart comedy movie titled 72 Hours, while he’s also been in TV shows such as Flashpoint, Psych, Rookie Blue, and Orphan Black. Additionally, he’s been cast in the upcoming Prime Video show Criminal, which also stars Charlie Hunnam, Richard Jenkins, Adria Arjona, Emilia Clarke, Luke Evans, and more.
Plot details for the live-action Gundam movie have not yet been revealed. The Gundam franchise, which primarily revolves around giant robots fighting one another, began with the premiere of an anime series, Mobile Suit Gundam, in 1979. It was created by Yoshiyuki Tomino.
The script for the film comes from Mickle, who was one of the showrunners on Netflix’s Sweet Tooth show. Mickle and his partner, Linda Moran, also serve as producers for Nightshade, with Centineo and Enzo Marc also producing.
A release date for the live-action Gundam movie has not yet been announced by Netflix or Legendary Pictures.
