Jumanji 3 Release Date Delayed for Dwayne Johnson & Jack Black Movie
Sony Pictures has officially changed the release date for its untitled Jumanji 3 movie. It serves as the next installment to Dwayne Johnson and Jack Black‘s action-adventure franchise, based on Robin Williams’ iconic 1995 movie and Chris Van Allsburg’s 1981 children’s novel of the same name.
When is the new release date for Jumanji 3?
Originally scheduled for a December 11 theatrical debut, the release date for Jumanji 3 has been pushed back to avoid box-office clashes with the long-awaited releases of Avengers: Doomsday and Dune 3 on December 18. Per Variety, Jumanji 3 is now slated to arrive in theaters on Christmas, December 25, one week after “Dunesday.”
The upcoming sequel to 2019’s Jumanji: The Next Level will see the return of Johnson, Black, Kevin Hart, Karen Gillan, Nick Jonas, Awkwafina, Danny DeVito, Alex Wolff, Morgan Turner, Ser’Darius Blain, Madison Iseman, Rhys Darby, Marin Hinkle, and Lamorne Morris. Original Jumanji star Bebe Neuwirth is also expected to reprise her role as Nora Shepherd. They will be joined by new cast members Brittany O’Grady, Burn Gorman, Dan Hildebrand, and Jack Jewkes. Further details about its plot are still under wraps, but the 2019 sequel’s mid-credits scene teased that the next film might bring the game back into the real world.
The threequel is once again directed by Jake Kasdan, who co-wrote the screenplay with Jeff Pinkner and Scott Rosenberg. Executive producers are Johnson, Ted Field, David B. Householter, William Teitler, and Mike Weber. It is produced by Kasdan, Dany Garcia, Hiram Garcia, and Matt Tolmach. The creative team consists of director of photography Ben Davis, editor Mark Helfrich, composer Henry Jackman, and production designer Bill Brzeski.
