Daredevil MCU Star Hopes Marvel & Sony ‘Get Their S— Together’ for Anticipated Crossover

Daredevil: Born Again actor Vincent D’Onofrio hopes his MCU character someday gets to face Spider-Man; however, he says that Sony and Marvel need to “get their s—“ together in order for that to happen.

Marvel Television’s Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 will soon premiere on Disney+. A continuation of the Netflix series, the second season of Born Again will see D’Onofrio and Charlie Cox once again reprise their roles as Kingpin/Wilson Fisk and Daredevil/Matt Murdock.

In Marvel Comics, Kingpin is as much a Spider-Man villain as he is a Daredevil one, as the character, created by John Romita Sr. and Stan Lee, first appeared in an issue of The Amazing Spider-Man in 1967. Given how popular D’Onofrio’s performance as Kingpin in the MCU is, many fans have wanted to see him cross paths with Tom Holland’s Spider-Man/Peter Parker at some point.

What did Daredevil: Born Again’s Vincent D’Onofrio say about Kingpin and Spider-Man?

On Twitter, D’Onofrio addressed why Jon Bernthal’s Frank Castle/Punisher character isn’t part of Daredevil: Born Again Season 2.

“If [Jon] wasn’t busy making his own hour long Punisher film and hangin with that insect we would have wanted him to join us in Season 2 for sure,” D’Onofrio wrote. “Yet he had a wonderful opportunity to do the other projects and i for one can’t wait to see him in those.”

With “that insect” being a reference to Bernthal’s role in Spider-Man 4, fans began chiming in saying they want a Spider-Man and Kingpin crossover.

“If Sony and Marvel ever get their sh*t together maybe,” D’Onofrio said. “It’s a complicated rights issue. Hope so.”

D’Onofrio has been open about this before. Due to some rights issues between Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures, Kingpin can only show up in television series at this time. The exact details, as D’Onofrio put it, are “complicated,” but he’s unable to appear in a Spider-Man movie due to this.

Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 premieres on Disney+ later this evening.
