The Housemaid’s Secret: Sydney Sweeney Movie Adds Oscar-Nominated Star to Cast

The Housemaid’s Secret, the upcoming sequel to the hit 2025 film The Housemaid starring Sweeney Sydney, has added an Oscar-nominated star to its cast.

Who has joined The Housemaid’s Secret cast?

Lionsgate has announced that Oscar-nominee Kirsten Dunst has joined the cast of the upcoming The Housemaid’s Secret. For Dunst, this is the second high-profile role she’s taken on recently, as she also signed on to star in the upcoming sequel to A Minecraft Movie, and will also star in The Entertainment System is Down, Ruben Östlund’s next movie.

Production on The Housemaid’s Secret is set to begin in 2026. The film will once again follow the story of Sweeney‘s Millie, who takes on a job keeping house for a woman she’s never allowed to see—only to discover the truth behind the locked door that threatens to expose secrets far darker than her own,” according to the film’s logline.

Screenwriter Rebecca Sonnenshine, who adapted the Freida McFadden novel into a film, will return to write the sequel. Director Paul Feig is also set to return, as are stars Sydney Sweeney and Michele Morrone. No word yet on whether or Amanda Seyfried’s character will be making a return, although it seems unlikely.

The Housemaid was a massive success, grossing almost $400 million at the box office. Alongside Sweeney, The Housemaid also starred Amanda Seyfried, Brandon Sklenar, Michele Morrone, Elizabeth Perkins, Mark Grossman, Hannah Cruz, Indiana Elle, Megan Ferguson, and Ellen Tamaki. The film is directed by Paul Feig and written by Rebecca Sonnenshine and is based on the hit bestselling novel of the same name by Freida McFadden, released in 2022.
