Michael Mando & Ben Foster’s Underrated Action Movie Out on Hulu Today

Hulu subscribers can now finally watch one of 2025’s most underrated action movies from Roadside Attractions. As of today, the action thriller film starring Michael Mando (Better Call Saul) and Ben Foster (Hell or High Water) is officially available to stream on Hulu. Mando was most recently featured in the newly released Spider-Man: Brand New Day trailer, where he briefly appeared as the villain Scorpion.

What do we know about Michael Mando & Ben Foster’s King Ivory movie?

Since its world premiere at the 2024 Venice Film Festival, King Ivory has maintained its approval rating of 72% on Rotten Tomatoes. The star-studded ensemble cast also included James Badge Dale (The Departed), Rory Cochrane (Black Mass), Ritchie Coster (The Dark Knight), George Carroll (The Town), Sam Quartin (Candy Land), newcomer Jasper Jones, Academy Award nominee Graham Greene (Dances with Wolves), and Academy Award winner Melissa Leo (The Fighter).

“Based upon extensive research with law enforcement, gangs, inmates, migrants, and addicts, all walks of life intersect in this fentanyl exposé. With potency one hundred times that of heroin and nearly undetectable at the border, fentanyl has flooded the market, triggering a tidal wave of overdoses, crime, and addiction,” reads the film’s official synopsis. “Work hits too close to home for Tulsa drug cop, Layne West, when his son, Jack, becomes an addict. In conjunction with his partner, Ty, and FBI counterpart, Beatty, West makes it his mission to take down those responsible, including the Mexican cartel’s local shot-caller, Ramón Garza, Indian Brotherhood War Chief, Holt Lightfeather, who controls state-wide trafficking from inside the Oklahoma State Penitentiary at McAlester a.k.a. ‘Big Mac,’ and the local Irish Mob family outfit, led by George ‘Smiley’ Greene, along with his mother, Ginger, and uncle, Mickey. As Holt educates West: ‘The cartels want your kids, the next generation, who want what is new, and fentanyl is new.'”

King Ivory was written and directed by Swab. It was executive-produced by Ali Jazayeri and Viviana Zarragoitia, with Jeremy M. Rosen serving as a producer. The creative team included cinematographer Will Stone, editor Andrew Aaronson, production designer Miles Rogoish, costume designer Kaitlyn Smith, and art director Morgan McClellan.

In a previous interview with ComingSoon, Swab opened up about his experience working with Foster on the 2024 movie, revealing that he definitely learned a lot from the acclaimed actor.

“Ben, to me, pound-for-pound is one of the greatest actors alive. If you had asked me before we cast King Ivory to make a list of my five actors that I’d wanna work with that I hadn’t yet, he would’ve been on the top of that list,” He shared. “He is as good of an actor as he is a person. So, I learned a lot from Ben. When you get to be around people like that you stay close and you listen. You don’t talk a lot, you listen. Ben and I were very collaborative in the process. He’s a very measured guy, and when he speaks, I listened because he has got a ton of experience.”
